Philadelphia-Turning Around?
I just saw a report on the news the other day, and it said that so far this year we only have 71 homicides to date. Up to this point last year, we had 101 murders. That is a 31 percent decline from last year. So far, so good, and hopefully this brings us a sense of optimism to the city that the murders are going to improve. We need less slayings across the city for the welfare of our police, our children, and us as students. Hopefully, these numbers keep improving and the city is a great place to live once again. I think it will get better, but I do not see it improving that much. One can only hope.

that is a great report to read! let's hope it reigns true and the numbers continue to decline!
Nutter for re-election, he must be doing something right
I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to move up here. He wants to be a police officer, but he has read the statistics of rookie death on the force in the city. Maybe this report will help convince him it isn't as bad as it seems.
On side note, I felt like I was driving past a bad joke on my way to class today. I was at a stop light on Braod Street and standing outside the Dunkin Donuts was two cops!
I hope the murder rate continues to decline; however, Philly is only a great place to live if you live in the right areas. Philly is a great place to visit but live, that questionable.
It seems like it is getting a lot better. It's still scary to think about, but hopefully the numbers will keep declining.
